Effect

An Effect is a way to do things in the RPG Companion App. The app has a predefined set of effects that you can choose from, which allow you to perform actions or modify stats in the character, fire mechanics, display resources, and a bunch of other things.

Effects are used to express and define mechanics (see Mechanic for an example).
